Government Initiatives Support Home Energy Saving

There are now a number of government initiatives for energy saving either in place or planned for the near future to support a major reduction in the carbon footprint of UK homes. Key among these at the moment is The Green Deal which is due to launch later this year.

There is a short synopsis of each below or you can find more detail by clicking on the links to the left of this page.

The Green Deal

This is a scheme aimed at reducing the UK’s use of energy in domestic properties. It is designed to assist with the capital cost of equipment and to enable homes to make substantial improvements at no extra cost.

The Feed In Tariff

The Feed In Tariff is designed to give everyone the chance to generate their own electricity, save money and help to make a difference to the environment. The return on investment is good and there are built in guarantees that payments in the future for electricity generated by individuals will keep pace with inflation.

The Renewable Heat Premium

The Renewable Heat Premium Payment voucher scheme is a government scheme that gives money to householders to help them buy renewable heating technologies such as solar thermal panels, heat pumps and biomass boilers.
